Democrat / Knitter / Spinner / Writer / Medievalist
I am currently a writer and an elected commissioner of the second ward of Haverford Township.
I believe in good government where all voices are heard, and no one is suppressed or intimidated. Democracy should be ever-expanding to support each individual so they can live rich, fulfilling lives in safety and health.
I finished my teaching career in May of 2024 after 11 years at a girls’ independent school outside of Philadelphia. Before that I taught 10 years at a co-ed independent school in Newtown Square. Before that, I taught medieval literature at Villanova. To learn my content area of British and American Literature, I spent many enjoyable years in graduate school researching, reading, learning, and writing before finally earning a doctorate in comparative medieval literature (Middle English, Irish, Norse) from Harvard University.
I have a devoted starter husband. We have three grown-up children, of whom we are inordinately proud. We also have one very bad beagle named Red.
My private interests include writing, baking, knitting, spinning, and gardening.
S. Forste-Grupp lives outside Philadelphia.
